The Club held its normal quota of Trials during the year. 2009 also marked the 30th Anniversary of the Club and a special stake was held on Friday 9th October to mark the occasion (report below).

The Irish Championship for Pointers and Setters
The Irish Championship was run on the last weekend of August 2009. The Judges were Maurice O’Mahony, Gerald Devine and Father Seamus O’Neill. The second day was postponed due to heavy fog. The Trial was finalised on 20th September 2009 when the second round of 9 brace of dogs were run. The Trial was won by Paddy Collins with his Pointer dog FTCh Boston Jingo. The runner-up was the English Setter dog FTCh Lefanta Odin who is owned and handled by Cork man George Forbes. Odin was bred by Johnny Geoghegan and is a son of his 2nd Norwegian import FTCh Storeskars 11 Odin and his home bred FTCh Lefanta Eva. Third went to Hugh Brady’s IRSB FTCh Remkillen T-Ebba and Fourth was given to Davy O’Neill’s IRSB Shinlogue Fionn.

Wexford Success in 2009
Kieran Welch won English Setter of the Year in Ireland 2009 with his ESD Capparoe Tintreach making him an Irish Field Trial Champion in the process – Keiran’s first. Tintreach was bred by Billy Grace. He is by Tommy Dunne’s very successful FTCh New Edition out of Capparoe Heather. He was presented with the Club trophy at the recent Spring Trial in the Dublin Mts.
