Friday 8th October saw the running of the Autumn confined Stake at Tinryland, Co Carlow by kind permission of Tinryland Gun Club. There were 23 dogs on the card who came before the judges Tommy Kavanagh and Donal O’Leary. Unfortunately fate was not kind to the Trial and at the end of the day, the judges were unable to award the main prizes. The Trial was sponsored once again by our good friends at Connolly’s Red Mills and competitors were given generous gifts from the company. The Red Mills Trophy for best quartering dog was won by Eamonn O’GRady’s ESD Blackeyed Pirate who also took the award sponsored by Club founder member Charles Cullen for the most stylish dog.
The Open Stake held on Saturday 10th October was judged by Christy Davitt and Anthony Mulhall. After a very good day’s trialling the judges gave a first excellent award to Billy Grace’s ESB Capparoe Jip, Second went to Vincent Flannelly’s IR&WSD Pallasgreen Halloway, Third was Kieran Walsh’s ESD Blackstairs Geronimo, whist Hugh Brady was placed fourth.
The club held its Annual Novice Stake on Saturday 16th October at Tinryland, co carlow by kind permission of the local landowners. The Judges were Neil Ryan and David Byrne. There was only one award – that of a First place (good) to Sean O’Dowd’s IRSD Creg Roy.
